ABUJA, October 15, 2026 — Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has described the widespread political support shown for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council as a remarkable development in Nigeria’s democratic history.

Speaking at the inauguration in Abuja on Wednesday, October 14, Soludo said the gathering demonstrated what he considered an unprecedented level of political consensus around a sitting President, especially with the involvement of governors and key political figures from different party backgrounds.

A report compiled by the Media and Publicity Team of the Forum of Chief Executives of Federal Parastatals (FORCEPA) highlighted Soludo’s remarks, particularly his emphasis on cross-party collaboration, economic reforms and the role of political leadership in national development.

The Anambra Governor, who was elected under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), explained that his party’s support for Tinubu was based on shared commitments to national unity, security and economic prosperity.

Soludo pointed to the number of governors associated with the event, noting that the participation of about 31 state governors reflected an unusually broad political alignment. His remarks focused on the support expressed at the gathering and should not be interpreted as a formal endorsement by every governor or the Nigerian electorate.

The former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria also took the opportunity to speak about the economic thinking behind the Tinubu administration’s policies.

Drawing from his experience as an economist, Soludo described the administration’s economic direction as pragmatic progressivism, suggesting that the President’s policy decisions demonstrated a readiness to tackle structural challenges rather than delay difficult reforms.

According to Soludo, the administration inherited an economy under considerable pressure and had introduced reforms aimed at moving Nigeria from economic instability towards recovery and long-term prosperity.

He attributed part of the administration’s reform direction to Tinubu’s understanding of public finance, arguing that the President’s decisions should be evaluated against the structural economic challenges Nigeria faced before and after he assumed office.

While supporters of the administration have cited macroeconomic adjustments and ongoing reforms as indications of progress, critics continue to question how quickly the benefits of these policies are being felt by ordinary Nigerians.

Soludo, however, maintained that the administration’s approach demonstrated a determination to address long-standing economic problems and create a stronger foundation for future growth.

His presence at the APC Presidential Campaign Council inauguration was particularly noteworthy given his continued membership of APGA, highlighting the evolving relationship between party loyalty and political cooperation in Nigeria.

The FORCEPA Media and Publicity Team noted that Soludo’s contribution brought economic policy and institutional performance into focus as political discussions surrounding the 2027 presidential election gather momentum.

As a forum comprising Chief Executives of Federal Parastatals, FORCEPA acknowledges the important role public institutions play in implementing government policies, documenting development initiatives and ensuring Nigerians have access to accurate information on public-sector performance.
