Lagos Fashion Week’s 2026 edition is scheduled for October 28 to November 1, with a programme that brings heritage, contemporary design and questions about fashion’s future into the same conversation.

The announced theme is “CRAFTED: Heritage. Innovation. Circular Futures.” According to the programme announcement reported by LuxuryNext, the week opens with a welcome event on October 28. Runway presentations are planned for October 29–31 at the LagosFW Tents at the Federal Palace Hotel, followed by offsite shows on November 1.

For visitors, that distinction between the central runway venue and offsite programming is worth noting before planning transport. An invitation to one presentation should not be assumed to provide access to every event across the week.

Looking past the finished outfit

Craft is easiest to discuss when it is connected to something visible: the handling of a fabric, the shape of a seam, the placement of embroidery or the skill needed to produce a consistent finish. Those details turn an abstract theme into a useful question for anyone watching the collections.

Heritage can also be presented in more than one way. A designer might preserve a technique closely, adapt it to a different silhouette or collaborate with a maker whose knowledge changes the entire production process. The interesting question is how that contribution is acknowledged and sustained.

The circular-futures element invites a similarly practical approach. A garment’s ability to be repaired, altered, worn repeatedly or passed on offers more substance than a sustainability label on its own. Audiences and buyers can look for the explanation behind a claim rather than judge only the language used in a show note.

Fashion week also works as a meeting place for people whose jobs are less visible than the runway: pattern cutters, stylists, photographers, production teams and buyers. A memorable collection depends on many of those skills reaching the same standard at the same time.

Anyone attending should follow the organiser’s latest programme for confirmed show times and access arrangements. Keep the original invitation, check the venue for each event and leave realistic travel time between presentations.

The 2026 theme gives viewers a way to engage with the week beyond deciding which look photographs best. It asks them to consider the knowledge inside the clothes, and what it takes for that knowledge to remain part of a working fashion industry.
